Description
The Rusty Flowerpiercer (Diglossa sittoides) is a species of bird in the Thraupidae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.
Though it has a wide distribution, it is not as easily spotted as its cousin the Black Flowerpiercer partly because of its coloration and as well because it tends to forage in thicker low-lying brush whereas its cousin tends to forage on taller flowering trees.
This one was captured in the Jose Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden of Bogota, Colombia.
