Description
The Cedar Waxwing is a medium-sized, sleek bird with a large head, short neck, and short, wide bill. Waxwings have a crest that often lies flat and droops over the back of the head. The wings are broad and pointed, like a starling’s. The tail is fairly short and square-tipped.
This one was captured 20 kms east of Hope, British Columbia, Canada.

Blair, This is a fun capture and caption! This Cedar Waxwing is gorgeous, and yes he does look irritated!... or angry, what timing to get this look! I have tried to photograph this bird for going on 20 years.. they have only come around 2 years out of the 25 or so.. I'm so envious... Anyways, gave it a vote and favor!
Blair Wainman replied:
Thank you Kym for your wonderful comment!! Yes, this guy was annoyed at me because I caught him when he wasn't looking and got some good shots of him...I think he was caught off guard as he was busy feeding at the time. They are difficult to capture unless they are feeding on berries or flowers...then they can be easily captured!! I'd be surprised if they weren't around more. They are quite prolific and you can usually hear them before you see them. Thanks for the vote and fave!!

He looks a little more that irritated...he looks downright angry!! Great shot, Blair!! If only he knew he'd become famous, he may not have had such an attitude!!! :-)
Blair Wainman replied:
Lol!! Yea, I think he had too many salmon berries to eat that day!! Actually I caught him off guard and I think he was annoyed that he got caught unawares!! He was so busy eating...he didn't even see me! Lol!!

Such a wonrul Colorado. A waxwing? I love waxwings, they are so smooth, the look like the have skin on, not feathers.
