Description
The cactus is prostrate and forms in thick mats. The flowers are bright yellow-orange, 10 cm of diameter. The leaves are tiny and scale-like. The cactus is covered with needles. The root of the cactus is fibrous and branched. They live in extremely dry areas.
This one was captured in southwest Saskatchewan Canada in an open pasture area
