Description
A somewhat shy yet gregarious bird, this Spectacled Parrotlet is pure enjoyment to watch. You will hear them before you see them as they blend into the green foliage of the subtropical forest canopy.

It sure is pretty. A nice vibrancy to this image. Your beautiful and identified bird image has been featured by Wild Birds Of The World, a nature photography group. L/F

What a beauty! What is this little bird, Blair, a lovebird? And where did you see him? Just adorable!! v/f
Blair Wainman replied:
Thanks! It's a Spectacled Parrotlet. They are found everywhere here in Colombia. I took this guys photo in the Botanical Gardens here in Bogota, Colombia. You wouldn't find these in someone's cage in North America but people here in Colombia have them as pets but I'm not sure if it's legal or not!
Blair Wainman replied:
I should add, they are quite feisty...for those who have captured them in the wild and they can take a good chunk out of your finger if you're not careful!! I'd just as soon see them in the wild and enjoy them from a distance!

What a beauty and he has blue under his feathers! Dee
Blair Wainman replied:
Thanks Dee!! Yes, the blue under the wings is actually quite brilliant, but you can only see it when he's in flight! Amazing birds...quite a racket though when they all start chatting at the same time!! Lol!!
